Slip Ring Technology and its Practical Points in CT

It is introduced in the 1990. It is designed for third and fourth generation scanner that is incorporating this technology. The slip ring is a circular contact basically it is connecting with sliding brushes that allows gantry to rotate. The spiral CT scanner is completed with slip ring technology. These ring tubes are continually rotated and move with 360 degrees of the coach with the gantry. The slip ring in CT built in the 1990s by Doctor Calendar.  It is an electromechanical device that transfers electrical signals by using ring and brushes. The brush is made of silver graphic material. They have replaced every year for maintenance.

In CT scan 3 types of slip ring are used, the one gives us high and low voltage to X-Ray tube, second provide the low voltage that needs to control gantry and system, and the third one is provided signals from rotating directors array to DAS. CT scan is used as a mechanism to deliver the power of electricity to X-Ray that rotates through 400 to 600 Degree other then it has stopped. Ct scan is basically provided continues rotation of the X-Ray tube. It has a connection of gentry rotating part and fixed power line or a signal line. Therefore it replaces the CT connection in rotating parts. The slip ring improves the technology of scanning speed. Also, provide the basis of a helical scan. The slip ring has both low and high-pressure points. The slip ring technology in CT transmits power that crosses the large free inner bore. This inner bore is one of the key factors in this rotating system. The slip is an electromechanical device that consists of circuit electrical conductor rings and brushes that transmits the electrical energy. The structure of the slip ring

It is located on the gantry rotating part that includes 12 concentric metal rings component.  It has six biggest and wide rings in which power source is connected; six is normal rings as a signal connection. The outer part of the slip ring is attached with the radio antenna to transmit the data signals (DAS). The brush plate is on the right side of the gantry. In these two types of slip ring available in the structure of CT. The one is used for SHDCD and the other one is used for RF. The SHDCD is about 1 to 3 rings that provide power supply 480 volts. CT scanner use slip ring technology for helical scanning, the process is X-Ray tube and the detector tube is rotating around the patient’s body. It requires the data that the patient move gantry. The table moves and the X-Ray tube around the patients when the CT scan is done by specialists. How to use CT

It rotates in gantry rotation base 1 when it is off. First, you lose the brush plates before fixing screws. Also, check the brush indicator before wearing. Do not touch the brushes and slip ring due to oil that will affect the contact brushes and slip rings. You must clean the slip rings, fit the cover and turn on the gantry base, you start scanning. You need to confirm must that every part is working properly. The high current slip ring and brushes life is depending on rotation and the number of scan rotation, maintain the record of facilitating future reference, and also record the bulb impressions.

The first and second generation is a basically different method that result is similar to the third generation for more application. It has a high voltage X-ray generator that supplies electric power to X-Ray tubes, a detector system, collimators, and frame.
