Let’s face it, nobody wants to pass away early in life. Most of us want to reach retirement age healthy and free of disease and injury. However, despite many of us want this for ourselves, many of us have trouble keeping up with a healthy lifestyle. The great news is that there are ways to prolong our lifespan by adopting the right habits. Here are some of the most effective ways to increase your chances of living a longer life.

Get Plenty of Exercises

Studies show that people who live a sedentary lifestyle are much more susceptible to premature death. It’s important that you get at least 30 minutes of movement every single day. That doesn’t mean that you necessarily need to go hit the weights and workout equipment at the gym either.

Something as simple as walking at a brisk pace, or even dancing in your living room can make a significant difference in your overall cardiovascular health. Unfortunately, less than 20% of the average American manages to meet this exercise goal. If you can do this, you can significantly boost your chances of living a longer life.

Spend Time With Others

Many people go through their life sacrificing social time for work. Although this may seem like the sensible thing to do, the truth is that a lack of social interaction can negatively impact our well-being. Lack of company with other people can leave us feeling depressed, and even more susceptible to disease. so, before you assume that work comes before play, consider that your health depends on a play once in a while.

Get Plenty of Sleep

Sleep doesn’t just avoid us getting pesky bags under our eyes, it can also boost our immune systems and leave us feeling more refreshed and resistant to disease and illness.  Unfortunately, it can get more difficult to get a good night’s rest the older that we get.

It’s important that you practice healthy sleep habits, like avoiding too much exposure to blue light before bedtime and making sure that you avoid alcohol or caffeine before too close to bedtime. Above all, you should make sure that you sleep in a comfortable bed that supports your spine. The last thing you need is spine problems due to a poor-quality mattress.

Eat More Raw Food

Although some foods need to be cooked, there are other foods that are much more nutritious when we eat them in their raw form. Raw foods are full of all sorts of enzymes and vitamins that are absent after they are cooked. From fruit to vegetables, try to eat at least several raw food sources every day to get your maximum boost of antioxidants and essential nutrients.
